Argentine Culture

Other Considerations

  • Try not to make comparisons between Argentina and other South American countries when in the presence of an Argentine. While opinions vary depending on the individual, some people may not think highly of some of Argentina's neighbours and may be offended by comparisons.
  • Many Argentines enjoy watching and/or playing football (soccer). Moreover, many are highly devoted to their national team. This is usually a good point of conversation and a great way to bond with your Argentine counterpart.
  • One of Argentina’s most well-known cultural exports is the ‘tango’. The term ‘tango’ refers to the music, lyrics and dance that originated in the lower-income neighbourhoods of Buenos Aires. The tango reflects the combining of existing traditions of Argentina (indigenous and Spanish traditions) with elements brought by the various European migrants.
